Forget Notifications, Send a Note Instead. Here’s 5 Reasons why You Should.

Why notecards? I’ve found myself pondering this while I continue working on another new set of block print stationery. Sometimes the pull towards notecards and correspondence stationery can feel conflicted, confused, maybe even redundant? Does anyone actually take the time to write anymore? Or is the instant gratification of sending and receiving a text/tweet/DM too easy, too prolific to ignore.

Regardless of all that, I have a feeling I’m not alone when I say I love receiving and sending a handwritten note. Whether it’s to say thanks / Happy Birthday / Congratulations / I’m sorry or just Hello! There’s something delightfully deliberate and comforting about writing and receiving something written by hand. Especially in this noisy, digital age.

Here are my five reasons why you should send a handwritten notecard:

1. It Shows You Care

Life can get busy, and it’s easy to forgot to express appreciation to people who make our lives brighter. When you take the time to write a note by hand, it shows you care enough to make an effort, take five minute out to slow down, rather than opt for a quick text.

2. It Creates a Lasting Memory

A handwritten note is something that can be cherished, kept and savoured for years to come. Unlike a text or email which is easily deleted/forgotten/lost in the masses of electronic communication we all receive on a daily basis.

3. It Boosts Emotional Well-being

Receiving a handwritten note brightens someone's day, it lifts their spirits to know you have been thinking of them. And writing it down is cathartic. Taking the time to reflect on your relationship and express gratitude can bring you joy, a sense of fulfilment.

4. It Strengthens Relationships

Sharing your thoughts and feelings in a more meaningful way through writing is hugely personal. It's vulnerable, real and honest. You create a stronger bonds and indulge in a sense of closeness that digital messages just can't convey.

5. It Stands Out in a Digital World

Let's face it, in a world saturated with digital communication, a handwritten note stands out. More that anything, it shows that you took time to disconnect and focus to send something thoughtful.

So, the next time you want to show appreciation or simply brighten someone's day, consider sending a handwritten notecard. It's a small gesture that can have a big impact. Take a moment to slow down, put pen to paper, and let your words flow.
