Hand Printed Daisy Flower on Fabric
The second week of the year and the first where schools are back fully, which meant I had grand plans for the week and was full of good intentions. However, as with the universal laws of fate, things haven’t quite gone to plan. I’ve caught a heavy cold, which kicked me firmly to the ground, so I’ve not been quite as active as I’d hoped. But I did manage to achieve one thing on my list and am ending the week with a new block so all is well.
Hand printing onto fabric is a big passion of mine; it’s where I find I naturally want to spend my energy and time. So it’s more than likely most of my weekly prints will be block prints I intend to print onto fabrics and textiles. For this week I carved a daisy flower in another jigsaw block, which allows me to print in two colours; here I’ve gone for a pleasing candy-like pink and teal green combination. I’ve only taken a test print at this time but I’m planning to print some yardage and sew into kitchen textiles, possibly napkins.
