Hello, I'm Pamela

From my cosy home studio nestled in the Norfolk countryside, I combine time-honoured printmaking traditions with fresh, contemporary colours to create botanical treasures that celebrate the quiet magic of British seasons.
Adventures in Print began as my creative sanctuary - a place where my love of flowers, changing seasons, and the gentle art of hand-carving could flourish. As a self-taught printmaker, surface designer, and devoted mother, I've discovered that life's most beautiful moments often arrive disguised as ordinary days: the first daffodils pushing through winter soil, sweet peas climbing cottage walls in summer, or that golden hour when autumn light filters through bare branches.
The Art of Botanical Portraiture
Rather than creating garden scenes or floral arrangements, I practice what's known as botanical portraiture – the intimate study of singular flowers and leaves. Like Georgia O'Keeffe's revolutionary approach to florals, I treat each bloom as a portrait subject, studying how flowers emerge from their stems, how leaves unfurl, how buds form part of the plant's complete story.
This focused approach allows me to truly know my subjects. Working primarily at A6 and A5 scale, I can capture the essential character of Britain's everyday flowers – the humble daisy, resilient poppy, striking thistle – those often-overlooked blooms that have been my constant companions since childhood in the Scottish countryside.
The Language of Flowers
I've always believed flowers speak their own secret language. Beyond their obvious beauty lies centuries of symbolism – from love letters written in roses to apologies offered through forget-me-nots. Each design I carve carries these whispered messages, inviting you to discover the deeper stories blooming within.
My work draws inspiration from bold, expressive artists like Henri Rousseau and Frida Kahlo, creating prints that capture both botanical accuracy and emotional essence. There's something about their fearless use of color and primitive, honest approach that resonates deeply with my own artistic voice.
Life in Norfolk
My Norfolk home sits surrounded by the very hedgerows and country lanes that inspire each new creation. Here, I spend my days wandering familiar paths, sketching seasonal discoveries, then returning to my studio to transform these moments into hand-carved linocut designs. Every piece tells a story of simple pleasures: morning walks through dewy meadows, the satisfying crunch of leaves underfoot, or those perfect summer evenings when the world feels golden and endless.
My Distinctive Style
What makes each print distinctly mine are those beautifully imperfect hand-carved lines and clean, bold shapes that capture nature's essence without fuss. My botanical portraits celebrate the structural beauty of how plants grow – following the natural flow from stem to bloom, understanding each flower as a complete organism rather than just a pretty face.
From initial sketch to final print, every step happens here in Norfolk – where British seasons unfold outside my window and inspiration grows wild in every corner. Each design is unique, carrying the subtle variations that make linocut so special and ensuring that no two are exactly alike.
Whether creating original prints, greeting cards, or commissioned pieces, my work serves as a reminder that transformation is possible at any age, and that the most profound beauty often lies in the flowers we pass by every day.
Every print tells a story of finding wonder in the familiar, and discovering that it's never too late to embrace your creative calling.
