Tulips Block Print

Another short and sweet block print this week, another naive-style tulip block print, which I’m keen to expand and eventually print onto fabric. I also carved some tulip leaves, playing around with the idea of a repeating pattern handprinted onto textiles. Both blocks aren’t quite there in terms of design so I’ve only taken a quick test print using my trusty stamp pad and paper, rather than take it to fabric. I’ve got quite a few ideas I’ve been sketching out for more block prints as I plan more textile projects this year.

The tulip block has been inspired by the tips of my tulips making an appearance in the garden. I planted a whole host of different tulip bulbs last year in a bid to fill the house with cut flowers this year and I’m excited to see the first signs of growth happening.
